Matt's workshops involve:
- Non -Traditional Partnering utilized by Pilobolus Dance Theatre
- How to discover and develop other non-traditional dance vocabulary
- How to develop individual physicality and idiosyncrasies
- The use of movement in relating to others on stage through movement and emotion
- How to create utilizing collaboration, improvisation, and play as an experimental tool
Matt has collaborated with Pilobolus since 1996 and in that time he has created dozens of new Pilobolus pieces, performed around the globe on stage, in T.V. and film, including "Last Dance, " the full length film documenting the Pilobolean creative process, Sixty Minutes, the Today Show, Live with Regis and most recently this year's Academy Awards.
PickleShoes has created new works for family symphonic experiences such as "Peter and the Wolf" and "Babar: the Story of the Little Elephant." PickleShoes has toured internationally and performed repeatedly at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall as part of the Center's Great Performers Series. The company has choreographed for the ASO's Music DVD "Songs in the Key of Life." Matt Kent has designed and taught the curriculum for short and long term residencies for Pilobolus including this year's Adult Summer Camp in Connecticut.
